Lean Enterprise

Introduction to Lean Enterprise

This workshop is delivered in a train and do manner where classroom instruction is integrated with hands-on simulation.

You will learn how to easily identify non-value adding waste and apply cycles of improvement to dramatically increase bottom line performance without excessive capital investment. This workshop concludes with participants developing their own in-house improvement. Course instructors provide recommendations to ensure measurable results.
Participants will learn about the Toyota Production Systems five cycles of improvement which include:

1. Assessing Current Business Situations
2. Stabilizing Processes
3. Developing and Deploying Strategy
4. Implementing Systematic Tactical Initiatives
5. Sustaining Improvement Gains

Learning Points

1. Evolution of the Toyota Production System
2. Applying systematic improvements
3. Identification of wasteful activities
4. Implementation Strategies
5. Lean Toolkit
6. Measuring Impact
7. Documenting Results

Value Stream Mapping

This powerful mapping technique is utilized to quickly assess business situations and design highly efficient business processes that are aligned to Lean Principles. This Value Stream Mapping workshop will use eVSM, a dynamic software solution as part of the training curriculum. This software allows practitioners to convert static "wall" maps into dynamic simulation tools by performing "what-if" scenarios and instantly updating the Value Stream Story Board. eVSM automatically loads all data on excel spreadsheets for fast efficient process analysis.

All participants receive a free 30-day license of the eVSM software.

Companies that opt for the 3-day in-house event will be given a one complementary license of the eVSM software.
Participants will learn:

1. How to create Current and Future State Value Stream Maps
2. A standard series of questions that enable the ideal process flow
3. How to story boarding and A3 reporting to align team efforts
4. How to use a highly effective two-stage future state implementation process

Learning Points

1. Common Roadblocks
2. Common Applications
3. Benefits of 5-S
4. 5-S Scoring & Auditing
5. Motivate to Sustain
6. Keys to 5-S Success

5S and Visual Management

5S is the foundational elements of a Lean program and a methodology for maintaining workplace organization. 5S consists of 5-steps to organization; Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize and Sustain. The 5S process drives out waste by making actions and conditions visible. A properly executed 5S program will break down the barriers of communication and help empower workers and staff at all levels. Participants will learn how a neat, clean and orderly environment improves productivity and increases employee process awareness.
Participants will learn:

1. How to improve productivity through 5S & Visual Management
2. How to reduce inventory and supply costs and eliminate unplanned stock-outs
3. How to recapture valuable floor space
4. How to facilitate a 5S Kaizen
